Take the time to reach out to your legislators. Educate them – share our resources! Respectfully express your concerns and expectations – and don’t stop. After all, they are elected to represent you! Pray for wisdom for them and protection for their families.
Take the time to educate and inform family, friends, and neighbors. School choice legislation impacts not just homeschoolers, but every taxpayer in Idaho. The ripple effects reach into rural communities, local public and private schools alike, the homeschooler next door . . . and the next generation.
Don’t be afraid to speak the truth. Don’t be afraid of aggressive school choice proponents. Don’t let them oversimplify the issue or shut down your voice. Don’t be afraid to be kind in the face of opposition.
It does not overstate the case to say that school choice funding of homeschools is poised to forever change the homeschool landscape in America. And sadly, if history is any indication, it won’t be for the better. Homeschoolers need to once again, loudly and firmly, stand against this threat to homeschool freedom disguised as school choice.
